The Year 7 Rounders Team Have All The Bases Covered!

The Year 7 rounders team have had a tremendous start to their time at Minsthorpe, they are currently unbeaten in all their matches and have set some fabulous scores. Many of the team continually score a rounder and there have been some excellent catches and performances! Nicole Ellison, the team captain has done a fantastic job of leading the team by example often scoring multiple rounders in a game. They have their Wakefield schools tournament next week and Minsthorpe wish them all the best for that and the years to follow! Well done Girls!

Back to the Future!

On July 3rd 1985, the blockbuster action-comedy ‘Back to the Future’ – in which John DeLorean’s iconic concept car is memorably transformed into a time-travel device – was released in movie theatres across the United States. Many scientists now believe that time travel is theoretically possible; psychologically it has always been – our mind can jump from the present to the past and project into the future. I always encourage our students to imagine what their future self would say to them if they could travel back in time? It is always best to plan for the future and not to look back on the past with regret. Sometimes, the consequences of our actions are all too easy to predict and do not need a time traveller to explain!

New Teachers have a Ball!

The first cohort of the Yorkshire Three Counties Alliance teacher trainees successfully completed their training and celebrated their achievement in style last Friday at the first ever Graduation Ball at the Brooklands Hotel in Barnsley. 27 aspirant trainee teachers began their journey into teaching last September here at Minsthorpe and our partner schools. Their success has been a credit to the staff here and our partner schools and of course, to the trainees themselves. An excellent evening was enjoyed by all – including some very proud parents!

We are proud to be the hub school of the YTCA and to be able to help shape the next generation of teachers – If you would like to know more about the YTCA please contact Chrissie Yates on 01977 657600.
