In July 2018 Minsthorpe Community College will be losing a number of long-standing servants to the college, in addition to the normal staff turnover due to promotions. One member of staff alone has been working at the College for 35 years (Mrs Oates) and another 22 years (Mrs Howe).
These are loyal members of staff who have given a great service to the College and I want to honour their years of service with a leaving ceremony that will start at 12:45pm.
This means that the College will close at 12.20pm on the final day. There will be grab bags available for students eligible for a free school lunch. Arrangements for ordering these will be given to students.
We will arrange for the buses to arrive at 12.25pm. The reason I am sending you this letter is to give you plenty of advanced warning and the time to prepare for this. Of course, this arrangement will not suit everyone and, if you cannot arrange for your child to be looked after, the College will be fully staffed until after 2.30pm and supervision will be arranged for any students who cannot leave early.
If you would like to take advantage of this option could you please contact your child’s CCTL to inform them that you need your child supervising and we will make the necessary arrangements to ensure their safe supervision.
Start of Term Arrangements – September 2018
Please note Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th September 2018 are INSET days. Arrival times for students on Wednesday 5th September will follow shortly, and will be available on the website over the summer.
Changes to College Uniform for September 2018
From September 2018 we are making a very minor change to the Minsthorpe Community College uniform. Students currently wear two colour of ties; the purple tie in Years 7 and 8 and gold in Years 9, 10 and 11. However as a large college with over 1500 students on roll it will be useful for students, parents and staff to be able to identify which year group an individual belongs to at a glance.
Therefore each year group will wear a different colour tie which students will keep throughout Years 7 to 11. Not only will this help with identification but also with costs, as you will only need to buy the one colour tie. The system allows all students to wear a different coloured tie in just over one year. This roll out of the new ties will not involve any parents having to purchase a new tie other than those who were already expecting to do so under the current uniform policy. Please see this page for further details.
Thank you in advance for ensuring that your child attends College daily wearing correct uniform.
If you do not have access to the website and require paper copies of this information, your son/daughter may collect copies from Reception during break times.
I wish you all a great summer break and we look forward to welcoming students back to college in September.
