Minsthorpe Recognised For Widening Participation Work

The National Education Opportunities Network (NEON)

Minsthorpe Community College has been shortlisted for the prestigious NEON Award for 2018.

The National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) was founded in early 2012 as the professional organisation to support those involved in widening access to higher education (HE) and social mobility. At the heart of NEON is a cross-sector approach bringing together HE institutions (HEIs), schools, colleges, the voluntary sector, professional bodies and employers.

"Minsthorpe was nominated for its tireless work in preparing students for university" said the delighted Principal, Ray Henshaw. "We help many of our A-level students to get to university and many of them are the first in their family ever to have achieved this. It is an honour to be shortlisted for the award as it shows that our peers recognise how much we do to create opportunities for our students" added Ray.

The Award will be presented to the winning school on Thursday 17th May at a glittering ceremony at the Palace of Westminister.
