It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Jim Kilfoyle, a former teacher at MCC. Jim sadly passed away on Boxing Day. The popular Liverpudlian is fondly remembered for his time at MCC as Head of History and then Head of Post 16. Jim was a unique character who brought colour, intelligence and a passionate belief in education to generations of children in the SESKU community. In his role as Head of Post 16 he would see many children go into Higher Education and be the first in their family to do so. Many of you will be aware that Jim, along with being an outstanding teacher, was also a superb rugby player and he would eventually have a decorated coaching career with first Wakefield and Yorkshire where he won 2 county championships. He then oversaw Rotherham’s promotion to the Premiership on 2 occasions and latterly with Sandal where he again saw success as they rapidly moved upwards through the league structures. All our thoughts here at MCC are with his wife Pat, who many of you will remember as a teacher at Ash Grove Primary, and with his wider family and friends at this sad time.
