About This Course:This programme is for people, who under the direction and supervision of a teacher or line manager (eg Higher Level Teaching Assistant), support students’ learning, attend to students’ personal needs and provide general support in managing students and the classroom. It will enable you to obtain a nationally recognised qualification while you work.

Minsthorpe is a successful 11-18 Academy in Wakefield and is the lead school of the Encompass Careers Alliance, a collaborative partnership of thirty schools who aim to provide high quality one-to-one Careers Education and Guidance across West Yorkshire. We have secured funding from the Careers & Enterprise Company to create a hub of schools who are committed to embedding the Gatsby Benchmarks in their schools and to ensure that every student in that school receives more than the recommended one-to-one interview with a qualified Careers Guidance Professional.

Thus we are looking to appoint a Personal Guidance Professionals to provide high quality, independent CEG to enable students in a variety of schools across West Yorkshire to make informed, realistic decisions about their future learning and employment pathways.

The successful candidate may have previous experience when it comes to Careers Education and Guidance but could also be a graduate candidate who is passionate about changing and shaping the lives for our young people. Candidates already possessing the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development will find themselves at a distinct advantage. Training for the role and relevant qualifications will be provided and funded for the right candidate but we do expect the applicant to come an understanding of the new Careers function in schools, especially the Gatsby Benchmarks and the Compass Tracker Tool.

Apprentice in Finance

Term-time + 10 Days

About This Course:Financial administration is a vital part of the school function. In this role you will develop a wide range of skills to support the administration of the college’s financial transactions, including the processing of invoices, photocopying, filing, faxing, completing standard forms, and assisting in the collection, recording and banking of money in relation to college activities.

Entry Requirements: Participants need GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths or equivalent or be prepared to work towards.

Study Mode: Full time – learning is on-the-job and assessed in terms of the participant’s competence to carry out a supporting role as a finance assistant. Full training will be provided and performance assessed in the workplace.

Apprentice in Administration in Schools

Term-time + 10 Days

Office administration and reception work is a vital part of the college’s day to day functioning. Within this apprenticeship you will experience a wide range of roles, including reception duties, answering the telephone and supporting the College administrators.

Entry Requirements: Participants should be interested in education and have some knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel. Participants require a GCSE grade A*-C in mathematics.

Study Mode: Full time – learning is on-the-job and assessed in terms of the participant’s competence to carry out a supporting role as an administrator. Full training will be provided and performance assessed in the workplace.
