Upton Bus Update

Metro

West Yorkshire Metro have informed us of the following: A new company is now running the Upton bus route. The cost of the fare will be £1.20 each way with or without a pass. We have been informed that a double decker will be running on this route.

Metro are advising parents who regularly travel on this route that the cheapest fare option is to purchase a Weekly Under 19’s ticket which costs £9.75 with a pass. Available from designated payzones and bus stations this ticket is not available to purchase on the bus. Please see the documents below for more information on how to apply for a PhotoCard.

Most parents realise that this price rise has nothing to do with the college and that it has nothing to do with education cuts – it is the decision of West Yorkshire Metro to raise their prices and any complaints need to be directed towards the company, not the college. Minsthorpe has contacted our local MP, Jon Trickett, to voice its concerns about the impact that such a price rise will have on our already hard pressed families.
