In accordance with the 1998 Data Protection Act, a student under the age of twelve is unable to give consent for their image to be used. It is for this reason that we seek the consent of parents/carers as detailed below. Once a student has reached the age of twelve they are deemed old enough to give consent themselves.
Occasionally, we may take photographs of students at our College. We may use these images in the College prospectus or in other printed publications that we produce, as well as on our website. We may also make video or webcam recordings for College-to-College conferences, monitoring or other educational use.
From time to time, our College may be visited by the media who will take photographs or film footage of an important visitor or other high profile event.
Students will often appear in these images, which may appear in local or national newspapers, or on televised news programmes.
To comply with the Data Protection Act 1998, we need your permission before we can photograph or make any recordings of your son/daughter. Only sign and date the form below if you are happy to give consent to use your child’s images as described about and in accordance with the conditions below.
Please note that websites can be viewed throughout the world and not just in the United Kingdom where UK law applies. Please note that the conditions for use of these images are shown below.
Conditions of Use:
We will not use personal details or full names (which means first name and surname) on any photographic image or video, on our website, in our college prospectus or in any of our other printed publications.
We will not include personal e-mail or postal addresses, or telephone or fax numbers on video, on our website, in our college prospectus or in other printed publications.
If we use individual photographs, we will not put a name in the accompanying text or photo caption. If we name a single student in the text of an article, we will not use a photograph to accompany the article.
We may include pictures of students and teachers that have been drawn by the students.
We may use group or class photographs or footage with very general labels, such as ‘a science lesson’ or ‘textiles lesson’.
We will only use images of students who are suitably dressed, to reduce the risk of such images being used inappropriately.
