Hopefully you will all have had a look at the timetable which was posted under the Post 16 tab so you can see where and when your son/daughter has a mock exam/s.
As the A Levels that are now being studied are the new linear exams (2 year courses with no official exams at the end of Year 12 as there was previously with AS Levels) it is essential that we prepare students by having an exam season within school, primarily to establish their understanding and gauge their learning, as well as preparing them effectively for their terminal exams at the end of Year 13.
With this in mind I want to make you aware of the importance we are placing on these Mock Exams for Year 12 students. If students fail their mock exams (at A Level that is by achieving below an E grade which is classed as a U), they will be expected to prepare again for this exam and re-sit it over the summer holidays. Students who fail to come into college for these resit exams may find their places at college being compromised. Students who resit over the summer and fail the exam again will be supported as necessary but it will involve there being a Support meeting called for them, their parents, the Head of Year and the subject staff to discuss the best way forward.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support, presence and feedback at Parents’ Evenings and other events. The success of your son/daughter in not only achieving exam and coursework success but in being supported to mature into the well-rounded young people we pride ourselves on nurturing for which your support is key.
Any queries you might have please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail email@example.com in the first instance.
Thank you in anticipation for your support with this process.
