Throughout Year 9 and 10, your son/daughter will be undertaking a number of tests within Design Technology to determine their understanding within the subject, both core and specialist subject knowledge. These tests are all in preparation for their exam in Year 11. This theory runs alongside the coursework they will also be completing. As the course is split 50/50 between coursework and exam, it is just as important for students to prepare and revise for the exam as it is preparing and producing their coursework.
If, as a department, we think your son/daughter is not revising sufficiently for the test, and has gained marks that fall significantly below their target, you will receive a text from their Design Technology teacher, outlining the dates of their next assessment.
Could you please encourage your son/daughter to revise for the remaining tests they will be sitting throughout the course of GCSE Design and Technology. They have their work booklet, which include all relevant revision material for the tests as well as access to useful links (below) to help them revise. I will also send a text out to you when your son/daughter has a test coming up.
