The Curriculum Team Leader, Mrs Kelly, welcomes you to the Creative department.
Creative arts allows our students to develop their practical skills in art, music and drama with a passionate team of staff to guide them. Students are taught in mixed ability groups at KS3 in their P&A group, where they have one lesson each week in each art form. In each art form practical skills are a vital part of everyday learning to encourage positive self-esteem and confidence building. Lessons are very engaging in a fun learning environment, giving students opportunities to share their creativity and ideas freely. The Creative Arts block was refurbished in 2013, giving the staff and students a very modern, state of the art learning facility. Accommodation is comprised of 3 Art Rooms, 2 Music Rooms, 3 Drama Rooms with a large performance space which is multifunctional, Post 16 Creative Arts Studio, Music Mac Suite, Dance Studio and Music Practice Rooms.
We offer a very strong extra-curricular programme and students’ uptake is strong, showcasing of students work is something the team considers highly at annual concerts and productions.
