In July 2014 Minsthorpe Community College will be losing a number of long-standing servants to the college (in addition to the normal staff turnover due to promotions). The combined years of experience of some of the staff retiring amounts to 112 years!
These are loyal members of staff who have given a great service to the College and have been important supporters in our journey to the good Ofsted judgement in March 2014. I want to honour their years of service with a leaving ceremony that will start at 1.15pm. Many of our staff have other commitments after 2.30pm and if we leave the farewell to then, some will lose the chance to wish a fond farewell to some highly valued colleagues.
This means that the College will close at 1.00pm on the final day. This will allow students to be able to have their lunch and then to be registered in P&A time before leaving the site.
We will arrange for the buses to arrive at 12.50pm. The reason I am sending out this notice is to give you advanced warning and the time to prepare for this. Of course, this arrangement will not suit everyone and, if you cannot arrange for your child to be looked after, the College will be fully staffed until 2.30pm and supervision will be arranged for any students who cannot leave early.
If you want to take advantage of this option could you please contact the College directly to inform us that you need your child supervising and we will make the necessary arrangements.
I would like to thank you for your understanding and support in this matter. My first two terms at Minsthorpe have been fantastic and I wish you all a great summer break.
