Minsthorpe Community College

Post 16 Results 2024

Once again, Minsthorpe Community College are celebrating excellent outcomes for their Post-16 students. Students have consistently demonstrated motivation and commitment to their learning which has led to success across a wide range of courses. The college is particularly proud of the proportion of A*-B grades, which is an increase on previous years. Furthermore, the College has achieved a 100% pass rate across A-Level and vocational subjects, enabling students to progress into further education and employment.

There were numerous individual students who achieved remarkable results across all subjects. However, a particular special mention goes to Caiden Burton (Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction), Mame Diokhane (A*, B, Distinction), Ashi Kosztolanyi (A, A, A), Oliver Mitchell (Distinction*, Distinction *, Distinction) and Ella Shakespeare (A*, B, Distinction).

These results mean that an impressive 95% of students are able to attend their first choice of university, with 68% of these being the first in their immediate family (first generation) to go on to higher education.  A number of students have also successfully secured higher level apprenticeships with local companies.

Joint Principal Mr Gilmore commented:

We are delighted with the achievements of our Year 13 students. Throughout the seven years they have spent at Minsthorpe Community College, they have epitomised our values of Motivation, Commitment and Care and have really earned these great results today. We would like to thank our staff who dedicate their time to our young people day in and day out and would extend our heartfelt thanks to their parents/carers who play a vital role in their education. - ‘Team Minsthorpe’ at its best!

Joint Principal Mrs Merritt added:

These wonderful results mean that our students can now progress onwards in terms of their education or employment. The range of degree courses they have chosen is diverse and includes architecture, astrophysics, sport & exercise science and law. Some will be studying locally at the Academy of Live Technologies at Production Park, whilst others will be moving to universities across the North of England, including Leeds, York and Sheffield. Many will be pursuing a vocation, such as nursing, teaching and policing, or undertaking an apprenticeship, some students are even setting up their own business. We offer our warmest congratulations to the young people and wish them every success and happiness for the future, whatever path they now choose.
