Minsthorpe Community College are delighted that our students have once again achieved excellent Post 16 results this year. The students’ hard work over the last couple of years has allowed the young people in south-east Wakefield to progress on to higher education, employment and training and is something Minsthorpe is extremely proud of, particularly in these extraordinary circumstances.

These results mean that a record 97% of students are able to attend their first choice of university, with 80% of these being the first in their immediate family (first generation) to go on to higher education. A significant number of students have also successfully secured higher level apprenticeships with local companies.

It has been an unprecedented year for all students across the country but we would like to congratulate our students on the motivation, commitment and care they have shown during the time they have spent at Minsthorpe Community College. It has been an amazing journey and one that will be a springboard to greater successes in the future.

There were numerous individual standout student successes but in particular special mention goes to Lewis McDermott, Millie Andrews, Rebecca Henfrey, Kimberley Milligan and Ryan Inman who have all achieved outstanding results across all their subjects.

Joint Principals, Mrs Merritt and Mr Gilmore commented, “The students’ achievements at Minsthorpe Community College make us extremely proud and we continue to witness ongoing improvement in Post 16 outcomes, giving our students the opportunity to continue with their education or to enter the world of work. We recognise the huge team effort that has gone in to achieving these results with everyone playing their part in terms of the motivation and commitment from all our students, parents and staff. Well done to all our students.”
